Case Study — Fire Remediation Confidential – Cardiff: Multi-Block External Facade Remediation
Quantity Surveyor, Employer’s Agent and Project Manager for external facade fire remediation works across a multi-block residential development in Cardiff, during the construction stage of a JCT Design and Build contract.
The challenge
Fire-safe facades across a multi-block estate

This confidential scheme is a waterfront residential development in Cardiff made up of several apartment blocks. As part of the wider programme of building safety remediation, the external facades needed upgrading so that the buildings meet current fire safety standards.
The works were delivered from scaffolding across multiple elevations of a busy waterfront site, with residents living alongside the works. That called for careful planning of access, logistics and environmental controls, together with tight control of cost, programme and quality.
Delivered by Ollie Thompson MRICS in a previous role at Rider Levett Bucknall.
